The barrier is what keeps the white from going warm rather than staying grey. The stones are set into the metal, not glued on top of it.

Not invincible. It's plated, and plating is a surface that wears. Keep it dry, cologne goes on before the jewellery does, back in the bag when it comes off. Do that and it lasts. Don't and it won't. Faults are on us — wear isn't.
